Schools are responasble for teaching individuality, and not for teaching conformity. Having students that are individual can help build self esteem, become more intrested in learning, and will be more successful in life. These qualities are alot better than those of a school were the kids wear uniforms, have a set schedule, and become zombies due to the every day monotony of having their life planned for them.

School should be a place where the students want to go. If students want to go to school, they will have a more positive attitude towards learning. I know that I've had a negative attitude towards learning, so I didn't try my hardest, or didn't do anything at all. The more that students learn, the more successful they will be in the future.
Individuality can also build a child's self esteem. Being able to wear what you want to wear, listen to what you want to listen to, and do what you want to do has a huge impact.

instant replay in baseball

Pros of instant replay
·         Close calls made correctly
·         Could change the way that the game is played
·         The calls made by the replays could change a team’s season

Cons of instant replay
·         Some people would want every play or pitch reviewed
·         There would be more of a chance for cheating and bribing the umpires

Instant replay in baseball would do nothing but good, in the fact that game or season changing calls would be made correctly.

-Barrack, Dan. "REPLAY THE REASONS WHY BASEBALL NEEDS REPLAY." n.d. 1. Print. http://www.academic.marist.edu/mwwatch/fall07/articles/Sports/sports1.html.
Major League Baseball is the only professional sport that has not adopted instant replay, and is the only sport instantly paying for it.

Baseball is considering a broader expansion of video review for umpires than first discussed.

Instant replay could make those game or season changing call correctly. For instance, the Chicago Cubs haven't won a world series in over a hundred years. It's the NLCS and the final game, in the final inning. A play could happen where to the naked eye it appeared one way. Without replay, the call would be made incorrectly, and the Cubs would go yet another year without winning baseball's greatest accomplishment.” When discussing instant replay, there is the subject of which kind of replay baseball should have. Football has a complicated instant replay rule, giving each team two challenges against a call made on the field. If one head coach thinks that the referee has made a mistake, he can challenge the play and have it reviewed. In hockey, instant replay is used for one thing, determining if the puck went past the line in the goal. Basketball is similar to hockey, reviewing if the ball left the players hands before time ran out. It is not necessary for baseball to review every facet of the game, but instant replay should be implemented on homerun calls and calls on the base” (Barrack 1). Players have been known to commit suicide after life changing calls, as well as fans that have done the same. “Donnie Moore was a pitcher in the American League for the California Angels during the 1980’s who killed himself after blowing game five of the championship series to the Boston Red Sox. Moore did not end his life over a missed call, but a missed call could have the same results. Not only can bad calls be dangerous to people, they can change the course of history.”
Major League Baseball is the only professional sport that hasn't adopted instant replay. In every sport out there, there is some form of official review or instant replay. This puts baseball behind every other sport in a more technologically dependent world. Even though there is no replay, baseball is America's past time, and has stood the test of time.

essay

A well-known football coach once said, "Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing." Do you agree or disagree with this statement?

-          You want to be the absolute best that you can be.
-          Need to work for things to achieve your goals
-          You have to dedicate yourself to your goals of winning everything.

A well-known football coach once said, “Winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing.” This statement has a truth to it in many ways. You always want to be your absolute best in the things that you do, you need to work hard to achieve your goals, and there needs to be a level of dedication that can’t be matched by anyone else.
Being the absolute best that you can be is very important. Being the best in something is a very special achievement. Being the best could come by raw talent, or by hours upon hours of hard work. Some people can pick up on things quickly and be successful at them, but others have to spend time to become the best.
Hard work helps a lot when trying to achieve some goal. When you work hard, good things will happen. No matter whether you’re in athletics, mock trial, debate, a job, or anything else someone could set a goal for, if you work harder than the competition you will be the best.
Dedication is also very important. For example, just showing up to practice isn’t going to make you any better. You need to be dedicated and show up to whatever it is that you are doing with a good attitude and the want to get better.
Being the best you can be, working hard, and dedication are all things that will help achieve your goals. “Winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing,” is a very true quote. Everyone is constantly trying to become the best. A very famous racer once said, “If you ain’t first, your last.” Set your goals high and anything can happen.

drug abuse

There is a problem in our counrty involving the issue of drug or substance abuse. Many people have been effected by this. Whether you are the one abusing a substance, or you have lossed a loved one in another conection to this. Substance abuse is a very broad topic. It can either be actually illegal narcotics, alchohol, or huffing glue. All of these do a significant amout of damage to the user's brain. There are dozens of chemicals that can render you "friendless, jobless, and despondent—if not outright kill you" (Detwiler 1).

Substance abuse is a problem and hasn't been fixed. The West Virginia newspapers offer daily examples of what the Mingo County sheriff, Lonnie Hannah, calls the “spinoffs of drug abuse”: "Murders, assaults, robberies, burglaries, domestic violence, child abuse, child neglect, elder abuse, DUIs, overdose deaths" (Nieves). West Virginia, the ninth smallest state, has the highest rate of prescription drug overdose deaths in the nation. It isn't just a current problem. In a CNN Health article, from May 08, 1998, states that 17 percent of the older population is some form of substance abuser.

There are many wasy to try and solve this problem. There has been many attempts, and many have failed. There has been tons of anti-drug and tobacco commercials in all the media, but it hasn't had as big as an effect as they had wanted. There has been many organizations like D.A.R.E., which try to stop the use of drugs, and try to help people with their substance abuse problems. There has been many successful attempts at solving this problem though. Those adds have helped some people make the decision to quit their bad habits. Rehab centers have also helped those individuals who can't solve thier problem themselves.
